We have just got back from a fantastic Competition Day in a new venue in Huddersfield. It has been a lovely day and no doubt by now, you will have read about all the Dance School successes on facebook and seen the photographs on Instagram. Congratulations to all our Competitors. Winners one and all!!
I would like to say a special “Big Thank you”, on behalf of the Competitors and Parents, to Estelle, Jonathan and Jan for partnering ALL the competitors and helping them to achieve such a high standard of Dance. I hope all three of you can get your feet up and rest this evening before you all go back to work tomorrow. I don`t know where you get all your energy from.
I have just spent three amazing weekends watching our pupils excelling in different events.
First of all on Sunday 17th April they displayed the beauty and elegance of the Ballroom and Latin Competition, on Sunday 24th April they “hit us “ with their energy and excitement at the Street Dance Competition and then Saturday 30th April….the icing on the cake their “pure magical” performance in the Hits 25 show at the Opera House Theatre, Winter Garden, Blackpool.
I am so very proud of them.
Since I started the Dance School over twenty years ago it has always been my aim to provide affordable lessons for any child who wishes to join us and learn to dance.
We do not audition or choose our pupils for any of our special projects like other schools do. If anyone wants to be involved, we take them.
We provide inexpensive small group workshops for our training sessions and due to the hard work of everyone concerned the results are remarkable . Other Schools only achieve this sort of improvement with very expensive private lessons.
We sincerely believe in providing a good standard of dancing for all. This is achieved with the warm co-operation and teamwork between us Teachers, the Parents and of-course our lovely pupils.
I look forward to seeing you all at our Medal Test weekend next Sunday 8th May and our medal Presentation on 9th July .
If you particularly enjoyed any of our special events please don`t hesitate to tell us.
Our dancers have enjoyed a very busy start to the year including two Ballroom and Latin competitions, a Street dance competition, Medal presentation evening with professional dance demonstration, trip to Blackpool Tower Ballroom and most recently the ‘Top Hat’ performance at the Opera House which was amazing. We are very proud of all our dancers who have worked hard to improve their dancing and who get involved with our events. You can see pictures of all of these events and more on the dance school instagram page.
We have recently updated the dance school web site with details of all planned events for 2016. We also welcome any feedback which can be used to help develop and improve our dance classes and events. Just fill out the contact form below with your ideas and suggestions.
All of our adult pupils, including our beginners and improver’s, are welcome to join us for a social dance on Saturday the 7th May starting at 8pm and we have all of our Medal Tests on Sunday the 8th May. Our Social dances are very relaxed, just bring your dance shoes and your own favourite drinks and nibbles. Its an ideal opportunity to practice all those steps you’ve been working hard to master.
Well done dance team on achieving some great results this weekend at the UKA dance competition. We had a really fun day. Check out my photos on our Instagram page. The next competition is on Sunday 14th February. Check out our events calendar here.
If you know anyone wanting to learn to dance we have beginners classes starting soon, email or call us today for more info.
Dance school competitors..Keep up the good work and make the most of your practice sessions as there is now only 1 week to go before the UKA’s Premier Dance Competition. Also, please try on your outfits and shoes to be sure they fit! You don’t want an outfit malfunction on the day! If you’re new to competition and want some advice then don’t hesitate to ask Estelle or the more experienced pupils. We will be pleased to help. This event will be very busy so please arrive early to find where we are seated and allow good time to change into your dance outfits etc.
Estelle has the tickets for this event, if you have not received your tickets then please get in touch ASAP.
This year the school will have over 30 pupils competing in Ballroom and Latin American styles (on Sunday 4th October) and for the first time at a UKA Premier Event we will have a couple of pupils who will compete in the style of Street Dance! (on Saturday 3rd October). Good Luck everyone!

Kirkham Community Centre was packed with proud parents and friends as pupils of the dance school received their awards for dance. During the event guests were treated to various demonstrations performed by pupils in the styles of Ballroom, Latin American and Street Dance. Awards were handed out by the guest of honour Kirkham Town Mayor Councillor Paul Hodgson who was particularly impressed with the waltzing of the very young children. The dance school has developed a strong friendly community over the past 20 years teaching dance in Kirkham and this was obvious on the evening with all ages and abilities receiving awards, joining in and having fun. Kirkham community centre , the home of the dance school is a modern property located to the heart of Kirkham town centre comprising two large rooms the larger hall having a purpose built sprung timber dance floor and outside there are plenty of free parking spaces.
The UKA hosted another great dance competition at Wythenshawe Forum on Sunday the 28th June and we were their to join in on the action. Twenty Eight pupils from our school competed in both Latin and Ballroom dances including, Samba, Jive, Cha Cha Cha, Rumba, Waltz, Quick step, Foxtrot and Tango. As usual the event was very well attended and competition was strong. Elisabeth, Estelle and all the teacher team are very proud of every pupils performance. Well done, and keep up the good work. You all have new dances to learn for the next competition at the Blackpool Empress Ballroom in October. See you all this Saturday evening the 4th July for the medal presentations when many of you demonstrate dances in competition dress. Tickets for the event can be bought from Elisabeth or Estelle following classes.
Click the link above for dates and information on the Blackpool Dance Festival which starts on Thursday the 21st May held at the Winter Gardens. You don’t have to buy a ticket to get access to all the trade stands selling everything dance related including music, books, clothes, shoes, soles and glue for worn out shoes etc. If you’re in town pop in and have a look. Last year I bought two dance tops for competition here and a pair of Latin dance shoes and some spare soles and glue to get more life from my dance shoes! and the trade stands are a great source of inspiration particularly if your adding detail to a competition dress. The dresses on offer are spectacular with equally spectacular price tags!
